Together in collaboration with the Association for Research in Infant and Child Development (ARICD), we are excited to announce new details for the ground-breaking Griffiths III assessment, which publishes this spring.
Griffiths III is the eagerly anticipated re-standardisation of the Griffiths Mental Development Scales (GMDS) - described as the “gold standard†measure in child development testing. Griffiths III provides an overall measure of a child's development, as well as an individual profile of strengths and needs across five key areas: Foundations of learning, language and communication, eye and hand coordination, personal-social-emotional and gross motor. You can read details on each of these five subscales in this article.
Reflecting contemporary knowledge of child development, more than 80% of Griffiths III has been redesigned to make a modern assessment in line with the latest research. The measure boasts fresh new norms from the UK and Ireland, and provides seamless assessment from birth (1 month) to 5 years and 11 months. The administration sequence has been streamlined to be practical for users and administration time is approximately 60 minutes.
Trained GMDS users will be required to undergo a conversion course via a free online e-learning package, details for which will be included in the kit. GMDS users can pre-order the Griffiths III kit ahead of publication - to be amongst the first to receive the announcement, please sign-up to our dedicated Griffiths III mailing list here. Training details for new Griffiths users will be announced shortly - we invite you to also sign up to the mailing list for updates.
