Announcing two new assessments for the summer: Power and Performance Measures – Revised (PPM-R) and IST-Screening

We are excited to be publishing two new measures of aptitude and ability in June. The Power and Performance Measures (PPM-R) suite consists of seven independent tests designed to improve decision-making in recruitment and selection. Three Power tests – Verbal, Numerical and Perceptual Reasoning – measure aptitude or potential, while four Performance tests – Verbal Comprehension, Numerical Computation, Spatial Ability and Mechanical Understanding – measure ability.

The PPM-R tests can be taken individually to measure a specific ability or aptitude, or grouped into smaller test suites that match the requirements of specific roles. Quick and easy to administer, these measures were normed on working adults in the UK within the last eight months, meeting all of the BPS guidelines for proper test development.
Individual candidate results are provided for each PPM-R test, or comparisons can be made between candidates across one or more of the tests. The PPM-R suite also has a role to play in career planning and development by identifying individual strengths and weaknesses.

IST-Screening is an alternative aptitude test that is particularly suitable for use with large numbers of applicants in the early stages of the recruitment process. The three sections screen for verbal, numerical and spatial aptitude; the resulting combination score provides a sound basis for deciding which candidates should proceed to the next stage of the process. Available with new UK working population norms, the IST-Screening is also available in German and Italian; a newly developed French adaptation will be published later this year.

From mid-June, both PPM-R and IST-Screening will be available online on the Hogrefe Testsystem 5 (HTS 5).
