Celebrating the Birth of Griffiths III

Hogrefe was pleased to join the Association of Research in Infant and Child Development (ARICD) in celebrating the ‘birth’ of the Griffiths Scales of Child Development (3rd Edition) last month in London. Griffiths III, the eagerly-awaited new edition of the popular child development assessment, is available to registered Griffiths users this summer.

The highly complex and sophisticated nature of the measure means there have been teams of people worldwide involved in every aspect of its development and re-standardisation. Given the far-flung locations of many of ARICD’s team members, participants were pleased to have the chance to join together in celebrating the birth of Griffiths III at London’s BMA House.

The day was hosted by the Association of Research in Infant and Child Development (ARICD), who oversaw the re-standardisation of the assessment. The event was sponsored by our Hogrefe, where our international teams have worked in close collaboration with ARICD to turn the vision for Griffiths III into a reality.

The morning session was open to Griffiths tutors – bringing them up to speed on the innovative new features of Griffiths III ahead of their own training courses. Participants heard from each of the five subscale leaders, who talked us through the test’s revised structure and the theoretical background.

The afternoon served as conversion training for a core group of users of the previous Griffiths Scales. Delegates got stuck into exploring the prototype test kit for the first time, especially the new ‘Quiet Book’ – a popular addition to Griffiths III.

Conversion courses

Interested in joining a future conversion course? While e-learning conversion training is free for all registered Griffiths users, ARICD will be holding a series of face-to-face courses for those interested in seeing the assessment in person. Check the ARICD website for up-to-date training courses, and for news on the e-learning course – launching soon.
