Clinical Components Glossary

A list of generic and product specific components for the clinical, health, social care and educational products. Product specific components are listed in red.

Administration manual:

A manual containing the information needed to administer the product.

Administration and interpretation manual:

A manual for the administration and interpretation of a product. This may not include psychometric data or conceptual background information.

Algorithm form:

A form containing a precise rule or set of rules for the evaluation of a particular test or scale.

Analysis/Examiner’s manual:

A manual containing the information needed to analyse results.

Answer sheets/ Response sheets/ Response booklets:

These are sheets on which the test taker can mark their answers to the items in the items booklet.

Autoscore form:

A form that enables the test user to score the test.

Benton book of photographs:

Benton response cards:

See Stimulus cards.

Benton VHS videotape:

A VHS video cassette demonstrating how the product can be used.

CAARS: for use in correctional settings supplement:

This supplement provides the test user with all the necessary guidance needed for the specific use of CAARS in correctional settings.

CALM group member’s workbooks:

These workbooks enable the individual test takers in the CALM groups to chart their responses and development over the course of the programme.

CALM group member’s guide:

This guide provides test takers embarking on the CALM programme with all the necessary information as to how the programme is structured and the individual’s role within the group.

CALMER certificate of accomplishment:

A certificate for test takers who have successfully completed the CALMER programme.

CALMER flyer:

A flyer for the CALMER programme.

CALMER handout:

A handout for the CALMER programme participants.

CALMER transparency masters:

Master copies of the CALMER materials in transparencies.

CCAE checklists:

Checklists of each of the sections within the CCAE range.

CDI V5 Getting started software guide:

A guide to using software that enables the on-site computer scoring and report generation for the test.

Clinical guide:

Provides a guide for evidence based evaluation and treatment of specific conditions.

Coding sheets/booklets:

These are used by examiners/observers for coding behaviour or test items.

Combination kit:

These kits combine related products or tests.

Conners 3AI 10 item ADHD index:

A shorter 10 item version of Conners 3 for quick assessment when time is limited.

Conners 3/Conners CBRS combo package:

An installation USB and software package combining electronic forms of both Conners 3 and Conners CBRS.

Conners 3 software kit:

Conners 3 products in electronic form.

Conners 3 software installation USB (Unlimited use):

A USB that allows for the installation of Conners software.

Conners 3 quick reference card:

A reference card containing a summary of the relevant scales, scores and critical indicators to aid clinical interpretation.

Counter serial number:

An electronic/online product/component usage.

Current Autoscore form:

An Autoscore form that measures the test taker’s current behaviour.

Denver II video cassette:

A VHS video cassette demonstrating the use of the product.

EDI-3 referral forms:

A self-report form with referral indexes to help inform clinical decisions regarding treatment.

EDI-3 symptom checklist:

An independent and structured self-report form.

Essentials of PAI assessment:

PAI interpretive and administrative guide.

Griffiths leather carrying case:

A leather case designed to hold all Griffiths test components for the test user.

HCR-20 violence risk management companion guide:

A guide that enables the clinician to assess and manage the risk of violence in practical terms.

Interpretive Reports:

This written report, usually generated by software or online, provides an interpretation of the test taker’s results in relation to the domains measured in the test and their implications or prognosis.

Interview booklets:

These booklets provide the interview questions necessary for screening and evaluation purposes.

Interview guides:

Guides for conducting interviews specific to the nature of the evaluation in the test.

Introductory kit/Complete kit/Starter set:

These kits include the full range of product components needed for the administration and interpretation of test results for individuals who are using a product for the first time, and normally includes a discount for purchasing the materials together. As some of the components such as the technical manual only need to be purchased once, the test user can then purchase the other consumable components separately when required.

IPDE Module screening questionnaires:

A self-administered carbonless form that contains 77 DSM-IV™ or 59 ICD-10 items requiring true or false answers.

IRAOS calendar of episodes:

A matrix on which to mark the onset, duration and end of an episode of illness.

IRAOS EPIS forms:

A form that charts the episodes of illness and the time elapsed between episodes.

IRAOS IND forms:

A form on which symptomatic data can be listed.

IRAOS time schedules:

A schedule that allows the test user to arrange the test taker’s biological data in chronological order.

IRAOS TREAT forms:

A form on which the history of treatments can be listed.

Key disk:

This contains the set-up information for the test user’s software.

Lifetime Autoscore form:

An Autoscore form that charts the test taker’s behaviour in relation to the criteria measured in the test over their lifetime.

Manipulatives:

Physical objects used to provoke a reaction or memory, or to aid learning.

Manual/Technical Manual/ Professional Manual:

The manual contains all the relevant information on the background of the test’s conceptual framework, administration, scoring and interpretation, as well as indications for future research to ensure optimal use of the product.

MMSE Brief/Standard/Expanded version Red and Blue forms:

Equivalent, alternate forms of the items in the test.

NAB panel card:

Visual stimulate on durable cards. Different sets of cards are provided for Forms 1 and 2 of the test.

NAB spatial map:

A colour map that the test taker uses to follow directions and answer questions. There are different maps for Forms 1 and 2 of the test.

Online form:

An online form that enables the test user to score the test using scoring software.

Observer-rated forms/booklets/Form R:

These allow a third party to rate their view of the test taker based on the items given.

PAI administration folio:

Storage for item booklets and answer sheets that doubles as a writing surface when no desk is available.

PAI casebook and interpretive guide kit:

Additional descriptive and interpretive information on the PAI scales.

PAI critical items forms-revised:

Particularly significant items from the test compiled in one form for quick administration to alert the clinician to possible crisis situations.

PAI-CS onsite scanning module CD-ROM:

A CD-ROM that enables the test user to scan the answer sheets when used in conjunction with a computer scanning package.

PAL format DVD:

A PAL format DVD is one that can be used in the UK and other areas across Europe.

PAS folder:

A folder to store PAS test components.

Pocket norm cards:

Handy pocket-sized norm data reference cards.

Profile Reports/Profile Sheets/Summary Forms:

These reports and forms give a summary of where the test user’s responses fall within the score bands as compared to the norm group.

Quikscore™ Forms:

A form that enables the test user to calculate the basic score of a particular test.

Ratings Forms:

These allow the test user to record the test taker’s scores in relation to the rating scale.

Ratings scales:

These allow the test user to align the test taker’s scores to the given test scales.

Record and evaluation sheets:

Sheets designed to record responses to the test.

Record forms/Record blanks/Data entry sheets:

Forms for recording the test taker’s responses.

Rorschach location charts:

All 10 inkblots reproduced in miniature on one form.

Rorschach psychodiagnostic plates with 10 picture cards:

Rorschach free association images.

Scoring CD:

A CD containing the software that enables the test user to score the test electronically and produces an automatically generated report.

Scoring key/Scoring templates/Scoring booklets:

These provide the test user with the means to score test taker’s responses.

Screening questionnaires:

These can take the form of an item booklet, interview schedule, observation coding booklet that forms the product designed to ‘screen’ for a particular condition or set of symptoms.

Self-report forms/Form S:

Forms that allow the test taker to report their impression of their condition in relation to the test’s criteria.

Software CD-ROM (Unlimited use software):

A CD-ROM containing the software necessary to administer the test electronically.

Software CD-ROM (Unlimited use software upgrade):

A CD-ROM that upgrades previous versions of the software or for test users who have upgraded their operating system.

STAI for Windows preview version:

Software containing the STAI manual and three profile reports.

STAI for Windows profile reports:

Software that analyses the test taker’s scores and generates an automatic report.

STAIC state/trait questionnaires:

See item booklets/answer sheets.

Stimulus cards/Stimulus books/Stimulus sheets:

These depict images designed to provoke a reaction or memory in the test taker.

STROOP test pages:

See stimulus sheets.

Test booklets/Item booklets:

These booklets contain the questions that the test taker will need to answer in order to take the test. Some are consumable (i.e. the test taker writes the answers directly in the item booklet where indicated), while some are reusable and sold with separate response sheets.

TOMM research monograph:

Research that addresses the use of the product with specific populations.

Training guidebook:

Training guidebooks supply specific training information for the administration of certain tests.

Vista conversion CD-ROM:

A CD-ROM that enables the test user to convert a previous version of software for an older operating system (for example, Windows 97) to enable the software to work on Vista.

WCST card deck:

A set of stimulus cards to be sorted as directed by the test user.

WCST: CV keytops:

Coloured keytops that represent the WCST stimulus cards to go on a computer keyboard.

Workbooks:

These enable the facilitator or clinician and the test taker to chart the test taker’s progress and reflections during the use of the test.
