Managing Talent for Retention and Growth - Free Seminar

2009-10-09 12:01:47

Recessionary pressures are forcing many organisations to cut staff numbers. At the same time these pressures provide opportunities – and some would say excuses- for disposing of the services of those who may have been seen for a while as not fitting in with an organisation’s future. However, the disruptive forces set loose by the active shedding of staff also mean that many of those whose services are still needed will seek employment elsewhere. Of these it is those who are the most talented who will commonly have the confidence to seek a move and who will most readily find they can do so. Add to this an environment of likely recruitment bans even for key posts and the result can be a vicious spiral.

In this free short seminar we look at the dynamics of these different forces and how they can be mastered. We examine the scope for creating a talent inventory to identify most clearly those who should go and those who should be retained. We go on to look at the incentives and support that can be applied to potential leavers and those who it is required to retain in order to dampen instabilities. We also look at the role of communications and the resulting perceptions of management and its intentions and the value of taking a pro-active approach to managing these, Ideas such as the anticipation of tipping points in levels of staff commitment are put forward.
